XI Experience stay top as Ballers FC continue winning run

It was home-ground victories in the Hollywood Regional Leagues for the KwaThema and Tsakani teams on April 11 at the Tsakani Stadium.

The day opened with the game between KwaThema’s XI Experience FC and Future of Africa FC from Kempton Park.

The first half of the game ended with goals from the XI’s Reabetswe Phaala and Bobo Ntombela. In the second half, Ntombela scored his second goal of the game, securing a 3-0 victory for XI.

Speaking to the African Reporter, XI’s head coach, John Mosia, said he was happy that they were able to play according to the set game plan.

He also said everything that is done during practice sessions must be implemented during the game. The team is currently sitting at the top of league stream A, and the coach said it is not the team’s first time in this position. It is the team’s aim every season to finish first.

“It is not easy for me as a coach to keep the team disciplined for each game. I always tell them to stay focused during the game and afterwards, they can rest, but they know every game is important.

“Despite the win, I think moving forward as a team, we will be focusing on the front, which will allow us to score because currently, that is our weakness, but overall, I am happy with their performance,” shared Mosia.

Future of Africa’s Kwami Mogale expressed disappointment with the away loss. He said the team tried their best to push for the goals, but it wasn’t enough.

As the team is currently at the bottom of the log, he shared that the team’s lack of urgency cost them the game.

“The team’s fighting spirit was low and the intensity from the players was slow, which allowed the XI to use that for their win,” said Mogale.

The last game of the day was a hard battle as Tsakani’s Ballers FC went head-to-head against Black Scorpions from Benoni. The first goal of the game came from Baller’s Anele Yikana, which allowed them to lead in the first half.

In the second half, Scorpions’ Phumlani Themba conceded a goal for his team, but Stephen Dion scored a second goal for Ballers, which led to their victory.

Baller’s head coach, Nathi Monaledi, told the publication that, despite the win and the three points, he is not pleased with his team’s performance, especially in the second half.

He said that as a team, they will be going back to the drawing board and working on their weaknesses.

“Introducing more experience in the second half helped us because it allowed us to score the second goal.”

“Beginning of the season, we started on a slow momentum, but now we are looking forward as we have been winning our games consecutively, so we are trying our best to keep the momentum for the players,” concluded Monaledi.

XI will look to carry the winning spirit into their next game when they play away on April 18 against Dream Team at Mackenzieville Stadium.

Ballers will also be looking for a win as they travel to play Callies FC on April 18 at Vosloorus Stadium. Results from the other game: East Rand Athletic Club 3-1 Joburg South Sports Academy.
