Kwatsaduza – Kutlwano Social Organisation (KUSO) launched a three-day back-to-school campaign, distributing school shoes and dignity packs to more than 200 learners in Springs, Tsakani, and Thembisa.
Beneficiary schools included Vukucinge Primary School and Welgedacht Primary School in Springs, Michael Zulu Primary School in Tsakani, and OR Tambo Primary School in Thembisa.
The initiative aimed to restore dignity and improve access to education for vulnerable children by addressing critical barriers to school attendance.
Speaking on behalf of KUSO, the head of the social welfare portfolio Sello Makete said the organisation was committed to ensuring learners had the essential items they need to thrive at school.
“The organisation’s efforts focus on providing essential items like school shoes and dignity packs to help learners feel confident and focused on their education.
Representatives from KUSO handed out school shoes to learners at Michael Zulu Primary School on Thursday.
“This campaign was part of Kutlwano’s broader commitment to driving meaningful change and empowering communities through sustainable social development initiatives,” he said.
KUSO believed that supporting children with necessities allowed them to focus on learning and reach their full potential. The organisation emphasised that broader community support was key to expanding its reach.
The organisation encouraged local businesses, individuals, corporates, NGOs, and community members to partner with KUSO to ensure that more learners could benefit from similar initiatives in the future.
During the distribution, KUSO secretary Pule Malefane urged local businesses and corporates to unlock their resources and collaborate with the organisation to empower learners from disadvantaged backgrounds.
He also thanked sponsors, KUSO members, district offices, and the respective schools for their cooperation and generous support in making the campaign a success.
