Duduza police call for safe and responsible Freedom Day celebrations



Constable Nobuhle Mnisi discourages criminal activities on Freedom Day.

Duduza – Social crime prevention co-ordinator and communication officer, Constable Nobuhle Mnisi, has urged members of the Duduza community to refrain from engaging in criminal activities during Freedom Day celebrations on April 27.

Mnisi assured residents that there will be strong police visibility throughout the area to ensure safety and maintain order.

“I encourage community members to use the day as an opportunity to promote a culture of learning, unity and sharing, in the true spirit of Freedom Day,” she said.

Mnisi emphasised the importance of celebrating responsibly while embracing the values of peace and community building.

She added the following tips:

Stay alert in public spaces – Be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Keep valuables secure – Avoid displaying phones, cash or expensive items openly.

Travel in groups – Especially when attending events or moving around at night.

Use trusted transport – Arrange safe transport to and from events.

Do not drink and drive – Ensure a sober driver or use alternative transport.

Look out for children – Keep them close and supervised at all times.

Report suspicious activity – Immediately inform police or community safety officers.
