Tsakani artist Spokes Geen carving his lane in SA music scene with purpose-driven sound

Tsakani – Sibongiseni Ginya is making waves in the music scene, better known by his stage name Spokes Geen.

He is steadily carving out his place in South Africa’s music scene with a sound rooted in authenticity, resilience and purpose.

He was born in the Eastern Cape and raised in Langaville, Tsakani. Sibongiseni’s journey into music began with curiosity.

“Growing up, becoming an artist was not something commonly seen, but my fascination with how music was created. It pushed me to seek answers.

“That curiosity faded for a time after moving to Tsakani, until a friend challenged me for giving up,” he said.

“My response came in the form of a song, and that moment reignited my path, marking the true beginning of my music career.”

Sibongiseni blends hip-hop, R&B, Afro sounds and elements of Amapiano, using music not just as expression but as a tool to inspire.

His aim is to give hope and remind people to keep going as long as they are blessed with another day.

“My journey has been deeply shaped by personal hardships, particularly the loss of my mother, which became a major turning point in my life.

“The birth of my now eight-year-old son also played a significant role, which drove me to push forward and create a better future,” he explained.

He elaborated, saying that success is not just about fame, but about survival, growth, and legacy. Music has always been part of his life.

He started singing in the school choir at Matandela Junior Secondary School in the Eastern Cape, where they consistently excelled in regional competitions.

“My love for melodies grew from there, later extending into church performances in Johannesburg where I led songs and further honed my craft,” he added.

Sibongiseni gathers inspiration from Sjava, AKA, K.O., and Kwesta. He continues to develop his sound while staying true to his roots.

He has collaborated with a number of talented creatives, including Jandas, 2Kultured, ForeverLivingChris and Sablo.

Sibongiseni’s reach has also extended internationally, with collaborations with producers such as 42CloudBeats from Kansas City, United States, and VordaBeatz from Croatia.

“One of my notable collaborations includes Sitha Sami, featuring Vuyo Ndevu and Stanley, alongside Jandas and 2Kultured.

“The song is available on all digital platforms,” he said.

He has also ventured into visual storytelling, recently launching a TikTok video series titled Minding Mines, which has already gained strong traction.

His fans can look forward to his upcoming music video titled Kusebenzekile, set for release soon, with the official date to be announced on his social media platforms.
