Job seekers warned about fake recruitment scam linked to Gibela Rail

The Human Resources Department at Gibela Rail in Dunnotor has been alerted to a fraudulent employment scam circulating among job seekers, in which individuals are asked to pay R850 for safety boots as a condition of securing employment.
Gibela Rail stated that it wishes to make it clear that no job seeker will ever be required to make any form of payment at any stage of the recruitment process.
In accordance with South African labour laws and fair employment practices, it is illegal for prospective employees to be charged any fees related to job applications, interviews, or employment placement.
“Members of the public are therefore urged to exercise caution and to treat any such requests for payment as fraudulent and unrelated to Gibela Rail.
“Gibela Rail further emphasises that the safety and well-being of its employees remains a top priority. As part of its commitment to maintaining a safe working environment, all personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety boots, is provided to employees at no cost,” said the company.
Gibela emphasised that job seekers should submit applications only through official Gibela recruitment channels and remain vigilant when receiving unsolicited messages or requests for payment linked to employment opportunities.
Anyone who encounters suspicious recruitment communications claiming to be from Gibela Rail is advised not to make any payments and to report the matter to the relevant authorities, or to contact Gibela Rail on 010 600 0651, or to check their careers portal for information on available vacancies on their website.
