Tsakani – EMPD Tsakane precinct officers apprehended a man (22) for possession of a stolen motor vehicle in the Tsakani area on March 25.
According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, officers received information about a motor vehicle stolen in the early hours of the morning in the Crystal Park area, which was spotted roaming the streets of Tsakani.
“The information was followed up and the motor vehicle, a Nissan NP200, fitting the description given, was spotted being driven by the suspect at the corner of Vlakfontein Road and Siphiwe Street.
“The suspect was cornered and the motor vehicle was tested, and it came out positive to be stolen in the Crystal Park area,” he said.
“The suspect was arrested and he alleged that he was given the motor vehicle by his friend, who said he must follow him by driving to Nigel with the said motor vehicle.”
Dlamini stated that the suspect further alleged that the motor vehicle had a canopy and that the officers were taken to an address in Malume Street, where the canopy was recovered.
The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at Tsakane Police Station and will soon appear before the Magistrate’s Court.
