Unjani Clinic donates gardening tools to Wright Park community garden for elderly residents

Wright Park – Ward 74 Clr Thulane Simelane and the ward committee received a donation of gardening tools from Unjani Clinic on Monday morning to support a new community garden for elderly residents.
Sister Lucia Tsoari from the clinic said the initiative formed part of the clinic’s first community outreach programme, following its official launch on April 16, 2024.
“I spoke to Councillor Simelane about ways we could give back to the community that has supported us,” she said. “Out of all his suggestions, we chose to buy gardening tools for the elderly.”
According to Simelane, local pensioners have secured municipal land to start the community garden, which is now being brought to life with the donation.
Andile Sithebe, a member of the ward committee, thanked the clinic representatives for their contribution.
“I think this marks the start of a fruitful relationship,” he said. “We appreciate the little that you have contributed to the start of this garden.”
Gerald Marais, of the Wright Park Exco, noted that while the gardens are still in their infancy, they hold great promise.
“I hope that the clinic also grows from strength to strength. I really want to thank you for your efforts in our community. I believe that together we will make a difference,” he said.
