Tsakani teen Lebohang Papi (16) shines on amapiano scene

Tsakani-born Lebohang ‘LittleMan’ Papi (16) began his musical journey in 2021 when he fell in love with the amapiano genre.
Inspired by his brother, a beat maker, Lebohang took his first steps in music by creating his own sound.
“I grew up in a musically influenced environment. At home, there is a church, and that is where I first connected deeply with music,” he said.
“From there, it expanded, and eventually I started developing my own lyrics. It became such a big part of me that when I finally stepped into a studio, everything just flowed naturally from my heart to the pen.”
Although he officially began making music in 2021, Lebohang revealed that he started singing much earlier.

“I began singing in 2019 when I was in Grade Five, at the age of nine. It was easy for me because my brother had his own studio, so I did not have to pay for studio time,” he said.

Lebohang looks up to fellow Tsakani artist Toss and has collaborated with talents such as Siya Sindane, Freedomaker, Mfana ka Zyfas, Dropone, and Njomane Ubhebhe. He hopes to work with more big names in the future, including Young Stunna, Nvcho, and Eeque_theDreama.
In October last year, Lebohang released a track titled Freaky Friday, which received positive feedback in his community. He is now preparing to release a new single titled Bayeke, expected to drop on digital platforms in July.
“My goal and mission is to get out of kasi and buy my mum a mansion,” he added.
He concluded by saying that his music tells stories inspired by everyday life, and his lyrics are meant to motivate and uplift his listeners.
