Tsakani coaches call for community support to boost youth football

Tsakani – Two coaches are teaming up to make a difference in Kwatsaduza football. Boy Mkhabela and Tisetso Mofokeng are regular tournament hosts in Tsakani and are always on the frontline advocating for better opportunities, such as scholarships, scouting opportunities, exposure and life-changing opportunities through mentorship or upliftment.
“All we want is to see children excel in what they love. The township is often undermined and as a result, children are deprived of beneficial opportunities,” explain Mkhabela.
The pair hosts regular tournaments at the Ext 22 Ground and plea for community support.
“Our township consists of many business and individuals who are well connected, especially in the sporting scene.
“We urge these individuals to support our initiatives by attending, offering assistance or connecting our players to opportunities,” added Mkhabela.

Mofokeng emphasised the importance of ubuntu, saying when a community unites, children benefit.
“Our duty is to support and guide these children. Gaining additional support will motivate their interests and direct them towards great things,” he said.
The two urged parents to support their children’s interests, expressing that attending soccer games also helps keep them focused. He explained that soccer also serves as a way of keeping children off the streets and occupied rather than engaging in harmful activities.
“I urge parents to bring their child to soccer practice or a game and watch them find their feet and unleash their full potential. It is also important that they balance school with their interests,” said Mkhabela.
He concluded by mentioning that they have asked parents to enrol their children in aftercare programmes in order to receive the support they need.

“We urge such programmes to also partner with soccer teams in order to equip children with the knowledge they need,” he concluded.
