Tsakani – Tjovijo U13 recently secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Paragorn FC in an exciting match played at Tsakani Ext 5 Ground.
Both teams started the game cautiously. Tjovijo coach Obakeng Mapotela said it was their first encounter with their opposition team.
“The teams were reserved towards each other, almost studying one another, which prevented us from playing our normal game and showing our identity,” he said.
The breakthrough came in the first half when Tjovijo were awarded a penalty, which helped open up the game.
“My team capitalised on the momentum, going on to score a second goal and heading into halftime with a 2-0 lead,” he said.
The second half presented challenges as Tjovijo adopted a more defensive approach.
“The boys became too relaxed and defensive instead of pushing for more goals. We conceded, making it 2-1, and Paragorn came at us with everything they had,” Mapotela explained.
Despite the pressure, Tjovijo held on to secure the win.
Mapotela praised his players’ determination, highlighting their growth and ability to apply what they learn in training.

“I am proud of my boys, not just because of the win, but because they are starting to understand and implement what we do at training,” he said.
Mapotela also pointed out areas for improvement, particularly communication on the field. He emphasised that better communication among players would reduce mistakes and improve overall performance.
“Winning alone does not give me joy, but seeing my players happy is the real reward, no matter the outcome,” he added.
