On the morning of February 27, EMPD Nigel precinct officers hosted a strategic operation with other precincts and stakeholders where four men were apprehended for possession of narcotics in the Duduza area.
The EMPD said that the officers received a tip-off about individuals dealing in narcotics.
“A follow-up was made, and Monjervwa and Ntombelela streets were visited. Four different male suspects were found in possession of narcotics, ranging from 15 Mandrax tablets, one full and one half Mandrax tablets, crystal meth and 22 small wraps of nyaope, all with an estimated value of R4 400,” said the metro police.
On the same day, the EMPD visited supermarkets and spaza shops to check for compliance, and roving roadblocks were conducted. A few written notices were issued to offenders.
All the arrested suspects were detained at the Duduza Police Station and the seized narcotics were also booked. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
