Kwa-Thema – Learners from Phulong Secondary School were invited by Primestars to attend an educational movie screening at Carnival City on February 28.
The initiative’s aim was to empower young people with financial literacy skills through an engaging film focused on responsible personal finance.
The movie highlighted key topics such as budgeting, saving, avoiding debt and making informed financial decisions.
Following the screening, learners had an opportunity to enter a competition linked to the programme.

“Our learners deserve this initiative as it helps educate on finances and other ways of managing finances. It is an important skill for every individual and acquiring it early in life is an advantage,” said Thatohatsi Maseko, Learner Support Agent (LSA) from the Gauteng East District Office.
Participants stand a chance to win exciting prizes, including bursaries, a boot camp experience and gadgets.
“To take part in the competition, learners are required to form groups of four, encouraging teamwork and collaborative thinking,” she said.
The programme not only provides valuable financial knowledge but also opens doors for learners to further their education and personal development.
