NIGEL – The Cambridge Football Club’s reserve team continued its campaign in the MacKenzieville, Alra Park Football Association (MAFA) League.
On May 10, an exciting fixture unfolded at the MacKenzieville Stadium in Alra Park, where the Bridges reserves faced the determined Peace Brothers in a thrilling encounter.
The Bridges started with positive energy, keeping possession of the ball, while the Peace Brothers played a waiting game, hoping to catch them on the counterattack.
The Peace Brothers created better scoring opportunities in the opening half. The Cambridge goalkeeper made various courageous saves to ensure the Peace Brothers could not open their account.
Both teams tried to create chances in the second half, opening the game for more entertaining football. Poor finishing put paid to countless attacking moves.
The Bridges lost some focus close to the final whistle, allowing the Peace Brothers to score from a free kick. It was the fourth league defeat for the reserve team.
“We played good football, but to lose in the end is heartbreaking. We hope to turn the corner and keep focus until the end,” said the Cambridge reserves’ head coach, Seun Matloung.
