Michael Zulu Primary School grades six and seven learners practised reading aloud on World Read Aloud Day on February 4.
World Read Aloud Day is an annual event that celebrates the power of reading aloud and storytelling. It was started by LitWorld, a global literacy organisation, to raise awareness about the importance of literacy, especially for children and communities with limited access to books.
“This day is a day to encourage literacy and build a love of reading. Reading aloud can have many benefits, including improved comprehension, vocabulary, and listening skills.
“It can also help children develop their imagination and empathy,” explained schoolteacher Nhlanhla Songo.
