The Masimong Foundation recently hosted its annual prize-giving, recognising outstanding grades 11 and 12 learners in its accounting, mathematics and physical sciences tutoring programme.
Held after the release of matric results, the event rewarded learners for their commitment and dedication to academic excellence.
Learners were awarded for their best achievements per subject, while additional awards for most improved were presented to those who showed significant progress, even if they did not obtain distinctions.
Certificates and medals were presented to all qualifying learners, while the top achievers in each grade received trophies and vouchers.

To support their preparation for matric, every Grade 11 learner received a study pack with a scientific calculator, stationery and past exam papers and memorandums.

The Grade 11 top achiever, from Phulong Secondary School, attained level 7 in all three tutoring programme subjects.
Meanwhile, the Grade 12 top achiever, from Tlakula High School, attained seven distinctions in the 2025 matric exams. Foundation founder and director Sandi Teke was proud of the learners’ accomplishments.

“We are proud of each student for their dedication, perseverance and hard workin 2025. We can’t wait to see the new heights they will climb this year,” said Teke.
She added that even small acts of support can create meaningful change.
“Whether it’s helping a learner, mentoring a young person, or showing kindness in your community, every act of care creates a ripple.
“Change doesn’t always need to be big, it just needs to begin. Together, we can continue to uplift, empower and inspire the youth.”
