Langaville – Local non-profit organisation The Lord is My Provider received a generous donation from Eaton Electric Company on May 15, bringing much-needed relief to the home that supports vulnerable, orphaned, and disabled children.
Founded by Thoko Nhlapo, the NPO was established to provide shelter, care, and love to children in urgent need. The donation included clothing, vegetables, and other essential food items, all of which will go a long way in assisting the NPO’s daily operations.
“Our organisation is in need of assistance, and support from organisations such as Eaton Electric means a lot to us,” said co-founder Martin Mqhaba.
The Lord is My Provider continues to call for more community and corporate support to sustain its mission of caring for the most vulnerable in society.
“We are in great need of assistance from companies, local businesses and general members of the public. Winter is cold and is a time for everyone to remain warm. We are in need of winter clothes, school uniforms, nappies, pads, and food.
“Our home offers a safe place to 16 children, some of whom sleep on the floor. We also need beds and proper mats,” added Martin.
He also mentioned that the donations received included many warm clothes, which brought them relief knowing the children would have some essential items for the winter.
Customer service manager and inclusion and diversity chairperson at Eaton Electric, Marie-Sarah Khoza said, “The purpose of the initiative was to give back to our community and create awareness on global issues such as poverty and homelessness.
“As a chairperson of inclusion and diversity, my committee and I wanted to impact the lives of the less-fortunate by making their lives just a little better. We strive to extend our hearts, not just towards our homes, but outside of them. Our aim is to make a positive impact on others, strengthen personal values.”
Thulisile Mqhaba, co-founder of The Lord is My Provider, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Eaton Electric for choosing to support their organisation with a donation.
“The donations did not only assist the children but also helps the volunteers. We are very grateful to have been established as an NPO in need of a helping hand.

“We are also open to receiving donations or an extra hand from the community. We often struggle with taking children to the clinic on their appointment dates. We would appreciate assistance with transportation on those days.
“Community members are more than welcome to assist by volunteering,” said Thulisile.
She also thanked their ward councillor, Njabulo Mbonani for always showing up when they are in need of help. She mentioned that the councillor attends their events and projects, and offers endless support.
“Debonairs Pizza at Kwa-Thema Shopping Centre in Duduza invites us to have pizza with them from time to time. That relationship was built by Clr Mbonani.
“He helps us seek sponsorship, donations and puts in the effort to assist us with challenges that we confront. For that, we are grateful for his kindness, support and efforts,” concluded Thulisile.
