Lion Stars coach Hounkpati Germain expressed deep disappointment, saying that crucial mistakes cost them.
“Unfortunately, we became too central in the 17th minute, and that was a big mistake. They were faster on the ball, and they capitalised at the end of the set. It was very bad for us,” he said.
The coach noted that his team created many goal scoring opportunities in the first half but failed to convert.
“We had many opportunities in the first half. Two clear chances that would have changed the game for us.
“I tried to change the momentum after halftime by introducing fresh legs and more aggression, but the response was not what I expected.

“I tried to bring in another player to increase intensity, but I must say, I do not know why it did not turn out as I had expected to,” he added.

“We need to work very hard. A good goalkeeper is important, and our defenders must be more aggressive. We must also work better with the midfield.”
The game concluded with a draw, a 1-1 score. Mighty Falcons FC assistant coach Themba ‘Cheese’ Puluwana said their plan as a team was to score as many goals as possible in the first half but failed.
“The game was much tougher than what we had anticipated. Our opponents defended their position in the game and played tactically,” explained Puluwana.
He mentioned that the second half was much difficult than the fist, saying their opponents came onto them strongly. His team managed to score an equalising goal in the second half, saving them from losing.
“We increased our focus and tempo in order to play on the same level. Over and above everything, I am happy with how the game ended,” he said.
