To stand in solidarity with women, children, and members of the LGBTQI community who have been victims of gender-based violence, a group of young women in Springs carried out a heartfelt gesture by releasing purple balloons.
They did this to show their support for the Women for Change shutdown initiative, which encouraged South Africans to wear black on November 21 and refrain from participating in the economy.
Though simple, this gesture serves as a powerful symbol of support for victims of violence at the hands of men.
