Kwa-Thema – After more than 20 years of uniting families and celebrating culture, the Heritage Commemoration Family Fun Day returns this year with a bold new identity and expanded vision.
Now rebranded as the Kuso Wellness/Heritage Day, the event will take place on September 24 and promises a reimagined experience that celebrates culture, wellness, and community unity on a provincial scale.
Organised annually by the Kuso Social Organisation, the event has long raised funds for local development initiatives across Kwatsaduza.
This year’s celebration marks a historic transition as Kuso, after consultations with the community and key stakeholders, expands the event to a Gauteng-wide celebration while keeping its roots in Kwa-Thema, where it has been nurtured and supported for decades.
To support this ambitious growth, Kuso has partnered with Ryt Culture, with project manager Zolelwa Mzamane at the helm.

“We’ve opened the doors wide this time. The community is not just invited, they are part of it because this event is theirs,” said Mzamane.
This year’s event will feature new wellness-themed experiences alongside the traditional heritage festivities. Local NGOs, NPOs, artists and entrepreneurs are being encouraged to shape and participate in the celebration.
The evolution of the event reflects the resilience and consistency Kuso has shown in sustaining it for over two decades despite challenges. The organisers urge businesses, sponsors, performers and community members to support or participate in this event.
Interested contributors or participants can contact the project manager via WhatsApp on 073 445 9818 or email rytculture@gmail.com.
“Kuso Wellness/Heritage Day is more than an event, it’s a platform for connection, healing and shared pride,” concluded Mzamane.
