Foundation alleviates hunger | African Reporter

Kwa-Thema – Ndumiso Maphalala, the owner and founder of the Blessed To Prosper Foundation, started a feeding scheme at the Kwa-Thema Community Health Centre (main clinic). Maphalala said the scheme feeds patients three times weekly – Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
“We noticed many people coming to the clinic arrive too early to have had breakfast at home. Our role is to bridge that gap by working with the health professionals at the clinic.
“We also dish out to those walking past the clinic because we noticed that many people also walk in to ask for food once we have started serving patients,” she said.
She added that they feed about 250 patients daily. They offer different meals each time and try to make them filling for the patients.

“We need help, mainly with food donations because the feeding scheme runs through our own funds.
“We would appreciate a helping hand from community members, business owners and those willing to assist us in any way,” she added.
She said she appreciates the occasional help from local businesses, saying it makes a tangible difference to those in need. Community member Nokuthula Maseko expressed gratitude for the foundation’s helping hand.
“We are grateful to have been taken care of by the foundation. We usually leave our homes in a hurry to be first in line and, as a result, end up spending the whole day at the clinic on an empty stomach.

“Old people must take their medication while in line but cannot do so on an empty stomach. I am beyond grateful for the food we received. It was delicious, too,” she said.
