The family of Banele Sibiya (30), a Thabo Village mechanic fatally stabbed in October 2025, says they are losing patience after the court case against the woman accused of his murder was postponed once again.
The accused appeared in the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on March 26, but the hearing has now been rescheduled to April 1. She had previously appeared in court on February 13 after being granted R500 bail.
Sibiya was attacked at his home in Duduza on October 5, leaving his family and community shocked and grieving.
Family spokesperson Ntombikayise Sibiya said the repeated delays, combined with the fact that the accused remains free, have been deeply distressing.
“We were told the last court date would be final, and we had hoped the matter would finally move forward. Now, with another postponement, it feels like justice is being delayed.
“It is heartbreaking to know that the person accused of taking Banele from us is still walking the streets while we are left to mourn. We just want the court to act decisively so justice is served and our family can begin to find some peace,” she said.
