Tsakani – Ungaphel Umoya Manufacturers recently hosted a Community Safety Awareness event at Ext 6-eCuba in Tsakani, aimed at equipping residents with essential safety information.
“The event went well. I was happy to see the community receiving all the necessary information in one place. It met my expectations,” said Linda Hlongwane, the event’s organiser.
Various local organisations and departments took part, including the CPF, EMPD, Department of Social Development, Shout It Out, and the fire department. Each delivered presentations tailored to the community’s needs.
Hlongwane emphasised the event’s interactive nature: “I was pleased to see the departments actively engaging with the community. They asked questions after their presentations to make sure people understood the purpose of the event.”
Social workers from Shout It Out also offered testing and counselling services for STIs, STDs, and HIV, ensuring a comprehensive approach to community health and safety.
