A total of 260 suspects were arrested across the Ekurhuleni District during the latest phase of Operation Shanela II, as law enforcement agencies intensified efforts to combat crime and improve community safety.
The multi-disciplinary operation, conducted between March 25 and 26 in areas including Dunnottar and Elsburg, involved the SAPS, EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Police and other stakeholders.
According to police, 185 suspects were arrested by detectives while tracing wanted individuals for various offences.
Of these, 118 were linked to contact crimes, 45 to gender-based violence, nine to property-related crimes and 48 to other serious offences.
