Duduza entrepreneur Gift Nhlapo sets ambitious school bag donation drive for February 27

Duduza – Gift Nhlapo is set to make a meaningful impact in the Duduza community through a planned school-bag donation drive to support underprivileged learners.
Building on the success of last year’s initiative, in which he donated 100 school bags, Nhlapo has now set an ambitious target of donating 1 000 school bags to learners in need.
“The 2026 donation drive is scheduled to take place on February 27, with the bags set to be distributed to three schools in Duduza, which will be officially confirmed closer to the date,” he said.
The initiative is driven by Nhlapo’s desire to ensure that learners start the school year with dignity, confidence and the necessary tools to succeed academically.

Speaking about the motivation behind the drive, Nhlapo said that access to basic school resources remains a challenge for many families in the area.
“I believe that a simple gesture, such as providing a school bag, can ease the burden on parents while encouraging learners to stay focused and motivated in their studies.
“Having witnessed the positive response and appreciation from learners during last year’s donation, the experience inspired me to expand the project.
“Seeing the smiles on the learners’ faces last year showed me that even a small contribution can make a big difference. This year, I want to reach even more children,” he said.

To achieve the goal of donating 1 000 school bags, Nhlapo is appealing to Kwatsaduza community members, local businesses and potential sponsors to come on board and assist through donations.
He emphasised that any contribution, big or small, will go a long way in helping the initiative reach its target.
“The donation drive is not only about giving out school bags, but also about fostering a culture of unity, compassion and community responsibility.
“I hope the initiative will encourage others to give back and play an active role in supporting the education of young people,” added Nhlapo.
