Crowd Control brings esports opportunities to township youth

Created by Thabang Wadikwena from Wright Park, Crowd Control is a community-based organisation founded in 2021.
“Our aim is to expose children in the local township to esports and online gaming. We provide access to the gaming space as a possible career for the youth,” explained Wadikwena.
Another initiative Crowd Control is working on is hosting gaming tournaments to promote good sportsmanship, build unity among players and scout potential esports talent who can represent the organisation at tournaments across Gauteng and SA.
In 2026, it will host workshops for children to learn about the growing landscape of gaming, what it means to play competitively and what careers are available based on their talents and strengths.
“We are planning workshops to teach parents about gaming and the importance of supporting their children who want to explore unorthodox careers in gaming and other spaces in technology, coding, AI and robotics.”
Crowd Control operates from 174 Thema Road, Kwa–Thema, in collaboration with Lebone Creations, and 1024 Kgari Street, Tsakani, in collaboration with the MKT Academy.
