Seven vehicles were impounded during recent by-law enforcement operations carried out across the City of Ekurhuleni, the EMPD has confirmed.
According to a statement by the EMPD, the towing unit focused on a range of contraventions, including illegal advertising, unroadworthy vehicles, parking violations, and unlawful mechanical work taking place on the roadside.
Officers conducted targeted inspections in several hotspot areas to ensure that motorists and businesses comply with municipal by-laws.
The department said the ongoing operations form part of its broader efforts to maintain safety, improve roadworthiness, and restore order in public spaces.

“These enforcement activities are essential to keeping the city safe and ensuring that public areas are used responsibly,” the statement read.
All seven vehicles were taken to the EMPD’s designated impound facility, where they will remain until owners settle their outstanding fines and comply with the necessary legal requirements.
The EMPD has urged motorists and small businesses to familiarise themselves with the city’s by-laws to avoid penalties and interruptions to their operations.
Additional enforcement operations are expected to continue throughout the festive season.
