Applying for Grade 1 or 8? These documents will make or break your application

Gauteng – The 2026 online admissions for grades One and Eight will open on July 24. Parents and guardians can apply to a maximum of five schools via the official website.
Once an application is submitted, supporting documents must be delivered to each school applied to within seven days.
Alternatively, documents can be uploaded online to ONE school, where they will be visible to all selected schools.
The required documents include:• Parent/guardian’s ID;• Child’s birth certificate;• Proof of address;• Child’s clinic card (Grade One only),• Child’s Grade Seven report (for Grade Eight applications).
Decentralised walk-in centres will assist parents daily with applications from 08:00 to 16:00. Applications can also be made using a cellphone.
Important: Use a reliable cellphone number. This is how the department will send updates via SMS.
