DUDUZA – A 45-year-old Mozambican national who operated a tuck shop in the Zimu section of Duduza was shot and killed in a hijacking outside his home on June 24.
According to Ekurhuleni SAPS district spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the man had just delivered supper to his son when the incident occurred.
“His son alleged that his father dropped off his food and asked him to fetch a cellphone he had left inside the house,” said Sekgobela.
“While the son was retrieving the phone, he heard a gunshot outside. When he returned, he found his father lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the head, and their white Ford Ranger was gone.”
The Tsakane SAPS later found the vehicle abandoned in Tsakani.
The Duduza SAPS has opened a case of murder and hijacking. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward and assist with the investigation.
