Tsakani – The Nkosinathi Mbonani Foundation Charity Soccer Games brought added excitement with a netball tournament, where teams battled for a R2 000 first prize and R600 second prize.
The thrilling showdown between Under Dogs and Mighty Titans had spectators on the edge of their seats, hungry for more fast-paced action.
“We played well and made it to the finals. We saw our mistakes in the first quarter. I think my players were very slow.
“We gave it our all in the second quarter, but by the third, two of our players were injured, and unfortunately, we did not have any substitutes to replace them.
“The ones playing did their best until the last quarter. The final quarter was a bit tough; my players were too relaxed and did a lot of footwork, which was unnecessary,” said Mighty Titans head coach Nozi Mnisi.
Mnisi said she believed her team lost hope after realising they were losing the game.
“The shooters lost hope, made a lot of mistakes, and started to complain endlessly,” she said.
The game ended 20-9 in favour of Under Dogs. Their assistant coach, Sonto Zwane, was beyond thrilled to have won the game, saying they worked hard.
“I pushed my players to work hard. They did not seem confident enough in the first quarter, but they managed to regain their confidence as the game went on.
First position: Under Dogs won R2 000.
“They observed their opponents and strategised based on their weaknesses. We maintained consistency in the third quarter and allowed the game to play according to our pace,” she said.
Zwane swapped the players’ positions in the third quarter, which worked in their favour.
“I am happy to have won this game. The money we have won in this tournament will greatly help us meet our needss,” concluded Zwane.
