Tsakani – Four young athletes from Eyethu Badminton Development are about to step on to a national stage that once felt like an impossible dream.
These brave and talented children, Kwezi Twala (11), Kamohelo Ntambakwayo (13), Tshepiso Lebenya (10), and Kiagiso Seloana (11) -are headed to Durban to compete in the SA U15 Interprovincial Games, becoming the youngest team to represent Eyethu Badminton.
“For these rising stars, this tournament is not just about winning medals, but it is about proving that perseverance, courage, and determination can break barriers.
“They have trained in tough conditions, often using worn-out shuttles and makeshift courts, yet their love for the sport has never wavered.

“They have woken up before dawn, sacrificed playtime, and pushed themselves beyond their limits, all for the chance to stand among South Africa’s best young badminton players,” said Bongani Simelane of Eyethu.
Simelane said the journey is bigger than just four players.
“It is a beacon of hope for every child who dares to dream despite their circumstances. Eyethu Badminton Development has always been more than a training ground; it is a place where children find purpose, discipline, and a family that believes in them even when the world does not.

“As they step onto the courts in Durban, they carry with them not just rackets, but the hopes of their community, the pride of their coaches, and the belief that this is only the beginning.
“Their presence at the SA Interprovincial Games is already a victory, a testament to the power of resilience and the unbreakable spirit of young athletes who refuse to give up.
“No matter the outcome, they have already won in the eyes of those who have watched them grow, struggle, and rise. Their story is a reminder that greatness is not measured only in trophies but in the hearts, they inspire along the way,” he said.
The event started on March 31 and will end on April 6.
