
Tsakani – EMPD Land Invasion Unit and Tracing Unit officers, in conjunction with the Ekurhuleni Human Settlement Department, demolished illegally erected structures on April 25.
Officers also arrested four undocumented males, aged between 27 and 43, in the Tsakani, Kwa-Thema and Springs areas.
According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, the officers,, together with Human Settlement inspectors, identified several illegally erected shacks that had previously been issued notices to vacate.
“The law enforcers proceeded to the said addresses in Ext 10 in Tsakani and on Vlakfontein Road in Kwa-Thema and discovered that the previous instructions were not adhered to, before structures were demolished.
“Lastly, in the Springs area, the Tracing Unit officers came across four undocumented males who did not have any form of identification, and they were immediately arrested and detained at the Springs Police Station for Contravention of Section 49 (1) of the Immigration Act (Act 13 of 2002),” said Dlamini.
