Eyethu outshines North-West University in Duduza clash ahead of national championships

Duduza – Eyethu Badminton Development Club hosted North-West University for Badminton, a racket sport on April 18 at the Duduza Multipurpose Centre. The event was graced by 60 attendees, including parents and community members.

The social games formed part of preparations for upcoming championships scheduled for June and July, including the University Sport South Africa (USSA) Championships and the SA U17 Inter-Provincial Championships set to take place in Cape Town.

The initiative also aimed to strengthen relationships between community-based sports programmes and higher education institutions.

“We delivered an impressive performance, dominating all categories including men’s singles, girls’ singles, men’s doubles, girls’ doubles, and mixed doubles,” said Eyethu director, Roller Mongala.

The club expressed its appreciation to key supporters who contributed to the success of the event, including Transvaal Galvanizer, Imab Powers, the Duduza Sports Confederation, and the City of Ekurhuleni for providing the venue.

Community members interested in joining badminton can contact the club on 082 228 1792 or visit training sessions held at the Duduza Multipurpose Centre from 15:30 to 18:00, Monday to Friday.
