SASSA encourages e-Life certification to help beneficiaries skip queues

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is encouraging social grant beneficiaries to use its new e-Life Certification platform, a self-service digital system designed to reduce queues at offices.

The portal allows recipients to complete their life certification from the comfort of their homes, at any time.

Beneficiaries who have the necessary means, such as a cellphone, are encouraged to use the self-service portal to perform life certification, a mandatory process that confirms they are still alive and eligible to receive grants.

The move is part of SASSA’s drive to streamline services under the slogan, “Paying the right social grant to the right person, at the right time and place.”

For more information on e-Life Certification and how to access the self-service portal, SASSA directs users to the SASSA Services Portal at

Beneficiaries can also contact SASSA for assistance via the toll-free line 0800 60 10 11, WhatsApp 082 054 0016, or email GrantEnquiries@sassa.gov.za
