Novangeli Madlisa launches NVG Music after industry setbacks, aims to empower Kwa-Thema artists

Kwa-Thema – After years of setbacks and broken promises from production companies that failed to deliver, vocalist Novangeli Madlisa is taking control of her journey with the launch of NVG Music, a recording company she co-founded with Tumelo Sefoloshe.

“We both got tired of empty promises. Different companies failed me, so we decided to create our own platform.

“That is how NVG Music was born, from frustration but also from faith in my talent,” she said.

Madlisa has spent the past months in the studio and rehearsal, rebuilding her catalogue and refining a sound that blends choral roots with contemporary Afro-soul and gospel influences.

Known for her emotive delivery and commanding stage presence, she is beyond determined to tell her story on her own terms. NVG Music was officially launched through a captivating concert on April 6 at Zion Apostolic Swaziland Church in Kwa-Thema.

The concert featured special events and performances by guest artists, who also showcased their talent on stage.

“The concert not only focused on gospel and Afro-opera music, but there was inclusion such as reggae music and had a poet,” explained Sefoloshe.

Among the NVG choir, solo singers also kept concert attendees entertained. The concert’s main aim was to raise funds for Madlisa’s upcoming single and full-length album release.

“The single is titled Ngonyama Siyakuvuma Uliqhawe, while the album remains untitled but is expected to feature between 10 and 12 tracks.

“All writing, production, and arrangements are being handled in-house to maintain creative control and authenticity,” added Sefoloshe.

Madlisa explained that her platform is beyond music, saying it is about ownership.

“I waited for others to believe in me, but now we are making it happen for ourselves,” she said.

Beyond promoting, Madlisa and NVG Music aim to open doors for other artists in Kwa-Thema and surrounding areas who have been sidelined by the industry. Live showcases are being planned to support the single release.
