PCF Ladies crowned champions at Lasuka Lahlala Easter Tournament in Duduza

Duduza – The Lasuka Lahlala Games Ladies Easter Tournament took place at Dan Radebe Primary School on April 4. Football lovers enjoyed a day filled with competitive action, entertainment, and celebration of women’s sport.

Organiser Phillemon Msimango explained that the tournament’s aim was to promote women’s football while creating a vibrant platform for local talent to showcase their skills.

Beyond the matches, the tournament brought together the broader community through sport. The first thrilling game of the day was between PFC Ladies and Italian 2 Touch Ladies. PFC won 6-0.

The game kept spectators on the edge of their seats as the two went into battle for a win. PFC Ladies scored their first goal.

Italian 2 Touch tried to defend their position in the game. Their coach, Kgauta Lebese, said he was proud of how his team played, despite the loss.

“This is a newly formed team, and showing up to play today meant a lot to us. “In the first half, my players were filled with fear, which led to such poor results.

“Everything done during practice was forgotten on the field. Many players ended up hiding when they were supposed to take full control of the ball.

“For beginners, such mistakes are valid and part of learning,” he explained.

The coach expressed that the substitute players brought life into the second half of the game. He said they tried to revive the spirit of winning, but due to the score at the time, it was not possible.

“I am very proud because this team has only been together for about two months. Technically, they are still new players forming a team, but they showed good progress,” he said.

PCF captain, Nonjabulo Sukazi, cited that the first half of the game went smoother than expected. She highlighted that their biggest mistake in the beginning was undermining their opponents.

“Our opponents’ defensiveness proved tough. We substituted our wing player in the second half, and that helped us gain another goal.

“Our opponents came on too strong in the second half as they fought to control the ball,” she explained.

Sukazi mentioned that they were scared that their opponents would, as a result, score goals and equalise.

PCF Ladies walked away with a trophy and gold medals.

Their coach, Sello Bottoman, congratulated his team, saying they played very well throughout the tournament.

Msimango thanked all the sponsors for showing up to support their tournament. He also thanked the community at large, as well as the bikers who supported the tournament.
