Duduza SAPS alert: Fake police vehicle linked to hijackings

Duduza – The Duduza SAPS urges residents of Duduza and surrounding areas to be on the lookout for a white Toyota Cross with police decals on its sides, carrying about three male occupants who are posing as police officers.

According to social crime prevention coordinator and communication officer Constable Nobuhle Mnisi, these men operate around Alberton Road (R550) and nearby areas.

“They tail unsuspecting drivers, particularly at night and hijack them. We urge motorists to be vigilant when driving, especially at night.

“If you are stopped by a vehicle that matches this description or you suspect any foul activity, stop at the nearest police station,” she said.

Mnisi said community members are also falling prey to online scammers who promote or sell items. They request amounts of money from customers before delivering.

“Make sure that when you make a purchase online, you ensure that you shop from reliable sources.

“Opt for the cash on delivery option where possible, use strong passwords, avoid using public Wi-Fi and monitor your transactions regularly.

“Remember, if something seems too good to be true, it is probably a scam,” added Mnisi.

Mnisi urged residents to report any suspicious activities to authorities as soon as possible.
