St Barnabas Anglican Church hosted its annual golf fundraiser at Pollak Park Golf Club on March 13. Church members and various stakeholders, including Tshipi Noto, Mobi Care, B3, and others, attended the fundraiser.
Moipane Zulu, who is part of the church’s fundraiser committee, told African Reporter that this year’s event aimed to raise funds to build a church hall that would be divided into a training centre for the youth who are interested in teaching and developing ECD skills.
She said that as a church, they want a place where the community members can equip themselves with new skills. She added that they are in talks with various companies that will help the youth with various skills for the job industry.
“We want the youth to upskill themselves in ECD because there are fewer crèches in communities and more children. We want to make it easier for parents to have a place for their children who leave home early.

“The fundraiser also served as an opportunity for small businesses to come and advertise their businesses,” said Zulu.
Zulu explained that the hall would serve as one of the ways for the church to give back to the community. She thanked everyone who participated in the fundraiser and the support from the stakeholders.
She concluded by pleading with the community to take care of the hall once built.
“We ask the community that, once the hall is here and operating, please look after it because we are doing it for you and for our children.
