The City of Ekurhuleni (CoE) honoured the memory of the late MMC for Roads and Transport Planning, Andile Mngwevu, during a candlelight service held on February 4 at the Council Chambers in Germiston.
His memorial service will be held today (February 5) at Kwa-Thema Community Hall from 12:00. He will be laid to rest on Saturday, following a funeral service at Kwa-Thema Stadium, after which the burial will take place at Nokuthula Memorial Park in Brakpan.
To pay tribute, the Executive Mayor, Nkosindiphile Chakaza, alongside the chief whip, Phelisa Nkunjana, laid a wreath at the seat of the late Mngwevu.
The mayor was joined by finance MMC Jongizizwe Dlabathi to hand over the wreath to the Mngwevu family.
“As we honour his legacy, we reflect on the lasting impact he made through his dedication and passion for the communities he served.
“His spirit continues to inspire our collective commitment to public service,” the CoE shared on a Facebook post.
