Cambridge FC triumphs over Dream Team in local derby showdown

Two local Hollywoodbets League teams went head-to-head in a spirited battle for honours and community bragging rights.
Cambridge Football Club (Bridges) took on Dream Team at the MacKenzieville Stadium. Despite the rainy weather, residents supported their favourites.
The match didn’t disappoint, as Cambridge showed clear dominance in the opening stages of the game by keeping possession and circulating the ball from one side to the other. The newcomers in the league, Dream Team FC, held their own by playing to their strengths.
Bridges held firm in their defence to ensure that Dream Team did not get too much momentum. With tactical discipline, the Dream Team waited patiently, hoping to catch Bridges with counterattacks.
The opening goal came in the 38th minute when a defensive error from Cambridge cost them dearly, as the Dream Team striker took full advantage to put them in the lead.

This sparked confidence in the Dream Team players and, with electrifying support, gave the more experienced Cambridge side a shock as they went into halftime leading 1–0.
After halftime, Cambridge came out firing and full of confidence. The rain did not make it easier for the teams to control the ball.
The coaches made tactical changes that sparked Bridges’ comeback and resulted in the equaliser. A Dream Team player deflected the ball into their own goal.
Thereafter, Bridges built momentum and played more in the Dream Team’s half, launching one attack after the other.
When Dream Team managed to get into Cambridge’s half, they could not convert their attacks into scoring opportunities.

Cambridge’s second goal was a well-timed tap into the net by Oupa Junior Mbokazi after various attacking plays.
Cambridge scored their third goal when Mbokazi was fouled inside the opposition’s 18-yard area. With a penalty kick awarded, Cool Makhura did not disappoint and scored Cambridge’s third goal.
Thereafter, Bridges kept possession and ran down the clock.
“We are happy for the three points. Playing a derby is never easy. We need to look at our starting game plan and improve on that in the future. Next week against Benoni Northerns, we need to prepare for that,” said Cambridge FC coach Kamohelo Motloung.
“We thank the community for supporting us in the rainy weather. This match was a tribute to solidarity and to standing with women in the fight against gender-based violence,” said Ignatius Maphike, Cambridge FC chairperson.
