Residents and businesses are encouraged to start preparing for a planned water supply interruption which will result in low to no water pressure in some areas for over four days.
According to the City of Ekurhuleni, the municipality has received notification from Rand Water about planned maintenance at various water supply facilities.
Maintenance on the Mapleton Booster Pumping Station is scheduled for May 29 at 03:00 to June 2 at 17:00. This is to connect the newly constructed B16 pipeline, which will be supplying water from the new Station 5 at Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant to Engine Room 3 at Mapleton.
It is reported that there will be no pumping at this station for the duration of the maintenance work. This will affect Kwa-Thema, Tsakani, Duduza, Langaville, Masechaba View, Bluegum View and John Dube
Water tankers will be arranged for areas experiencing no water supply. Residents are urged to store water for domestic use and to use water sparingly.
Businesses and institutions are urged to maintain on-site storage that is equivalent to their daily demand or at least up to 36 hours.
