21st annual KES Easter Rugby Festival kicks off in Johannesburg with exciting fixtures

The wait is finally over.
The 21st Annual King Edward VII School (KES) Easter Rugby Festival kicks off today (April 17), ushering in one of the most celebrated weekends on the South African schoolboy sports calendar.
From April 17 to 21, the iconic grounds of KES will come alive with the spirit of the game, as schools from across the country gather for a long weekend of thrilling rugby and hockey action.
Affectionately known as the home of the Reds, King Edward VII School once again plays host to a festival that has, over two decades, grown into a beloved Johannesburg tradition. This is not just about the sport—it’s a celebration of youth, unity, and unmatched school pride.

What sets the KES Easter Festival apart is its unwavering emphasis on values over victory. There are no league tables and no trophies. Just pure sport for the love of the game. Here, sportsmanship trumps scoreboards, and camaraderie is as important as competition.
This year, the festivities begin with primary school and hockey fixtures, ensuring all talents take centre stage before the crowds. And the action doesn’t stop there.
Today’s fixtures on the Weinberg Astro (KES):
13:00 – Jeppe High School for Boys vs Hoërskool Eldoraigne
14:20 – Parktown Boys’ High School vs St Charles College
15:40 – Maritzburg College vs Helpmekaar
