
EMPD drug enforcement unit officers recently confiscated illegal substances valued at R22 800 during operations conducted across the City of Ekurhuleni.
According to CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, officers conducted targeted operations across various areas of the metro as part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal drugs and enhance community safety.
“During these operations, eight men and two women, aged between 19 and 55 years, were arrested.
“The suspects were found in possession of various illicit substances, including khat, dagga, crystal meth, and Mandrax.
“The confiscated drugs were estimated to have a combined street value of R22 800,” he said.
“All suspects are facing charges of possession of and dealing in illicit substances. They were detained at different police stations and are expected to appear before the magistrates’ courts soon.”
The EMPD remains committed to combating drug-related crime and urges community members to work closely with law enforcement by reporting any suspicious or criminal activities.
